Hi Tonya,
I was at MCB Sat & Sun matinees. Sorry I didn't see you. I was simply blown away by these marvelous dancers. I really hope they can find it in their budget to come for another visit. New York certainly loved them - and of course NY will always have a special love for Eddie Villela. He was walking around in the Mid-Mezz during intermission where I was sitting on Sat. Many ladies of a certain age were asking for his autograph, which he was generously giving. I was too shy to do that but my heart was aflutter just watching him.

LOL Good luck for me finding it. The local library doesn't have it... the University may have it but haven't looked.

Well hum... just checked a couple of doctor sites and it seems that most cases of polio are asymptomatic.. So it's interesting possible. I'm surprised she didn't get the Polio vaccine (she was only in her twenties when the vaccine came about).

Kind of have to feel sorry for her... Having Polio, not being able to dance, and on top of those, having your husband divorce you for a younger dancer. Ouch.

I'm living my ballet performances through you so keep 'em coming!

Hi Katrina -- yes, you should definitely see Jewels whenever you have the chance! I think there's a DVD of Paris Opera Ballet dancing it? -- maybe? It is weird about leClerc -- at least that's the story -- that she collapsed and then was diagnosed. She might have shown other symptoms that she never reported, or that the accounts I've read didn't include. What a horrible disease.

You know I heard about Tanaquil le Clerc, and it makes me wonder, why she didn't show any other symptoms (from what I've read, which I'll be honest is very little). Polio, when it does show up, there are usually other symptoms.

The "Jewels' is on my list of Ballets to watch. I want to see them so badly, but alas I live in the middle of nowhere and all I see is snow ;)
